5 Greatest Trippy Songs Synchronized to the Wizard of Oz [VIDS]

August 15th 2008 was the 59th anniversary of the release of The Wizard of Oz. Released in 1939, The Wizard of Oz was only a minor success in theaters, in spite of its rave reviews. It wasn’t until it’s annual television airings that it became a pop cultural phenomenon.

It is now regularly listed as one of the top 10 movies of all time, and AFI has listed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as the greatest movie song of all time. In the new digital age, The Wizard of Oz’s popularity has only grown, and you can find millions of tributes to the film all over the Internet.

Though in recent years online reimagining’s of The Wizard of Oz have run rampant, it was actually in 1994 when a buzz began about something called “The Dark Side of The Rainbow”. When played against the classic film, Pink Floyd’s legendary album, The Dark Side of The Moon synchronizes almost perfectly. Though members of Pink Floyd have denied any intent on synchronizing the album with the film, it still remains a beautiful, if coincidental, piece of art.

In that vein, here are five of the best reimagining’s of The Wizard of Oz...

5) Home-Chris Daughtry

4) Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

3) A Hero Can Dave Us-Nickleback

2) Home-Breaking Benjamin

1) Pink Floyd-The Dark Side of The Rainbow (Moon)
